Peroj finds its earliest mention in historical documents in 1197. The village is notable for its interestingly antique Montenegro community, which is only one of such types in Croatia. Peroj is also notable for its participation in the war on the Venetian side. It was of strategic importance in thwarting attacks from the Turkish Empire over the native Montenegrins.
Today, Peroj is a wonderful tourist settlement that offers accommodation in the form of private rooms and apartments. The one thing that Peroj is most proud of is the gorgeous sea and nature that surrounds the entire landscape.
